|California Maritime Academy, Vallejo, CA – Engineering Building Renovation & Expansion ($5.9 million) and New Pier Extension, Vallejo, CA ($4.0 Million)
In support of the Construction Management firm tTG provided scheduling and claims avoidance/mitigation services on this challenging project. The project included the complete renovation and expansion of the Academy’s engineering laboratory and classrooms. New wings were added to include laboratories, offices, classrooms and lecture halls. The project was complicated by the need to have the first phase completed in a very aggressive timeframe to avoid impacting mandatory curriculum requirements students’ need for graduation.
Prior to the Engineering Building Renovation we provided schedule review and claims resolution services for the completion and close out of this replacement pier for the mooring of the new California Golden Bear. Services included schedule review and advise on allowable time extensions and claims avoidance, mitigation and resolution. We worked with the University and Contractor to resolve disputes resulting in a differing site condition discovered during the pile driving operation of the project. We also worked with key stakeholders in development of a “Path Forward” for completion of the project after relations had broken down and participated in Global Settlement negotiation.
